Backup, backup, backup

I’m usually not too bad with this, but…

Who thinks to backup their MySQL databases? You better believe I do — now.

I was having problems with a MySQL connection thing and I decided to reinstall the same version of MySQL. Well that didn’t exactly solve things so I decided to upgrade to the last stable 4.1.x version — 4.1.18.

Well then I restarted and none of my local MySQL databases are there and I’ve never exported or backed them up. Well, don’t ask me to repeat the steps I took to recover them, but I got them all back.

Needless to say I’ve now set up a cron job using MySQL Administrator. You might also check out MySQL Backup.
