Forwarding Email in Leopard Server

OK, to put it mildly the Workgroup Manager and Email in Leopard Server has some quirks and problems.

I and others noted that a user whose email was set to forward would give a 550 error about not being able to access the users mailbox or the mailbox wasn’t set up. Well, since the mail is […]

WordPress SVN

OK, since I’ve switched over to WordPress I have to admit it’s been pretty painless. I decided to go with the SVN update process since I know it’s much easier. But the monkey wrench in the process is having to switch to the new checkout for every stable release.

So instead of

$ cd ./blog $ svn up

USB to Ethernet Adapter

Oh my god how aggravating. I’ve got an Intel Mac mini I’m using as a server and I’ve got a StarTech USB to Ethernet adapter. Unfortunately, none of the current drivers seems to support Leopard well. Fortunately, Sustainable Networks has written a beta driver to support Leopard. Unfortunately my adapter isn’t one of the ones […]

Moving domains

Sorry if anyone gets confused. When I moved this blog over to WordPress I was hosting it on a different domain. It now lives here on thefragens.com where it belongs.

I play around with virtual domains for the URL instead of a folder but that for another day.

Leopard Server DHCP-NAT

Setting up DHCP/NAT was both simple and highly complex. Simple in that running the Gateway Assistant from the NAT setup was easy. Complex in that the default /etc/bootpd.plist is missing some required […]

Securing Email

I think I’ve finally accomplished it. It being getting my mail server to use SSL for IMAP/POP/SMTP.

I’m running Leopard Server on an Intel Mac mini and I’ve been screwing around with Keychain Access > Certificate Assistant for the past 2 days. Don’t waste your time.

Joel Rennich has some excellent instructions on getting everything up and […]

Moved to WordPress!

Well, here I am switched over to WordPress. It’s not a complete transition yet as I still have to configure MarsEdit and wait to turn over hosting of my main site to myself so this can go in the correct place. But so far so good.
