Machiavellianism Part 2

·

I had a little IM chat session with a friend in Great Britain regarding the [moral high ground][1]. It seems that the *real* solution is for the United States to discontinue its meddling in the affairs of other nations, become isolationist, and simply hope that this is enough. If we get attacked again we’re supposed to “suck it up”. Sorry, I’m not for sticking my head in the sand. Granted, this is a huge oversimplification.
No amount of explanation about what my government is doing is going to *make me realize* that it’s my fault that terrorists want to kill me. I don’t necessary agree with all the foreign policy decisions of my government but then why aren’t these terrorists targeting the interests of my government instead of its citizens. I’d have a some respect for them if they want to take on our military or our government. But no, why do that when it’s so much easier to kill non-combatants.
I’m still waiting for someone to explain to me what in the religion of Islam justifies all this sectarian violence.
